A Home to Be Proud Of

Minerva Youth Care Limited is a specialist residential children's home based in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Named after the Roman goddess of wisdom, we believe every young person in our care has immense potential waiting to be unlocked.

Our 3-bed home provides a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children and young people aged 7–18 with learning disabilities (mild to moderate), autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, and communication or sensory needs. With a low-to-moderate risk profile, we offer therapeutic, person-centred care rooted in respect, belonging and joy.

🌟
Every Child is Unique
We build individualised care plans around each young person's strengths, interests and goals — not just their needs.
🏡
A Real Home
Not a facility — a home. Children have their own space, personalised to them, in a warm and family-like setting.
🧠
Neurodiversity-Affirming
We celebrate neurodivergent minds. Autism, ADHD and communication differences are seen as part of who you are — not problems to fix.
💬
Your Voice Matters
Young people help shape the running of the home. Their views, wishes and feelings are central to every decision we make.

Care That Goes
Deeper

Everything we do is grounded in therapeutic best practice, attachment theory, and a genuine belief that every young person can flourish. We use proven, evidence-based frameworks with warmth and humanity at their heart.

🤝
Trauma-Informed Care
We recognise that many of the young people we support have experienced adverse childhood experiences. All staff are trained in trauma-informed practice to respond with empathy, not escalation.
💛
PACE Model
Our day-to-day interactions are guided by Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy — Dan Hughes' proven approach to building secure attachment with children who have experienced disruption.
🗣️
Positive Behaviour Support
We use proactive PBS strategies — understanding the function of behaviour rather than simply responding to it. Our goal is always to reduce distress and build young people's skills.
🎓
Education & Life Skills
We work closely with local SEND schools and education providers to ensure continuity of learning. Life skills — from cooking to travel training — are embedded in daily life at the home.
👨‍👩‍👧
Family Partnership
We recognise the importance of family and community connections. We actively support meaningful contact and work with families as partners in the care of their child wherever possible.
🌍
Cultural Celebration
We celebrate diversity in all its forms — cultural, religious and personal. Each young person's identity is honoured, and the home is enriched by the uniqueness every child brings to it.
